[Vwdiesel] Question

What ever is considered a collector car is in the eye of the beholder but in Calif., any car that is 25 years older can qualify for a collector car plates. I also wonder why the person with the diesel VW had trouble registering his car with the DMV as diesels are currently exempt. However, I understand diesels 1998 & newer will come into the hated smog test program next year. I don't know how they are going to check. Probably an under hood inspection to make sure nothing has been removed & an inspection to see if the tail pipe smokes too much. I think owners with 1998 or newer diesels that have converted them to run on WVO may be in trouble even though biodiesel & WVO produces less smog than ULSD to my knowledge. This could be a problem for those of us that live in Calif. & other states such as Mass & NY that copy Calif. smog regulations.
