Great idea unless you screw up and need to outrun a tornado,
avalanche or even some screwball on the road. (I know of each
situation second hand). The solution could be worse than hitting
a rev limiter. Other than complete redundancy... I suppose there
could be simply a couple of throttle switches at something like
half and 3/4 to see if they are both activated when the TPS is
giving the false, full throttle signal.
Why can't people simply turn off the key, especially when they
don't immediately run into something.
One failsafe(?) that I've found in the VW system is if you have
the brakes and throttle on at the same time, it cuts the throttle,
but not quite totally. Just way down and flutters it a little. Just
the safety Toyota could use, if you're standing on the brake when
it's getting throttle signal, cut the throttle down. Not so great
when you're trying to heat up the brakes like I was.
