  Great idea unless you screw up and need to outrun a tornado, 
avalanche or even some screwball on the road.  (I know of each 
situation second hand).  The solution could be worse than hitting 
a rev limiter.  Other than complete redundancy... I suppose there 
could be simply a couple of throttle switches at something like 
half and 3/4 to see if they are both activated when the TPS is 
giving the false, full throttle signal.  
  Why can't people simply turn off the key, especially when they 
don't immediately run into something.
  One failsafe(?) that I've found in the VW system is if you have 
the brakes and throttle on at the same time, it cuts the throttle, 
but not quite totally. Just way down and flutters it a little.  Just 
the safety Toyota could use, if you're standing on the brake when 
it's getting throttle signal, cut the throttle down. Not so great 
when you're trying to heat up the brakes like I was.
