Putting the transmission in neutral should do the trick Bill.
If you live in a state that allows you to carry a pistol, empty the thing in
the vicinity the ecu.
Mom's Lexus spooks me out, I don't care for the auto detect key fob thingy.
I like a big switch that I can turn off. Speaking as a person that has had
a vehicle stick on full snort (years ago), I like the key. On the early VW
throttle pedal assemblies, if the return spring failed to retain the hinge
pin, the pin works out over time, and the pedal would come free on one side
and cock and stick all the way down. I had this happen in my 69 Ghia
convertible that has a fairly fat motor, so full snort is pretty snorty.
Just about lost it that day coming up to an intersection, and the key saved
the day.
