[Vwdiesel] Oil leak

They guy I bought it from seemed to think there was a 50/50 split on running
it that way, so that's what he did. I still have the cover. I'm glad it's
off now as I've also discovered the intermediate shaft pully has a gouge in
the sidewall of it that is slowly chewing the edge of the belt. Not
severely, but noticable. Perhaps the oil leak is coming from this shaft?
And yes, I've put about 4000 miles on it this way.

Apparently, leaving belt cover off can lead to premature death of engine...

Stone wedging etc. Perhaps also grit ingress into seal too...

Any particular why you are 'running naked'; 'going commando' etc ;o)
