That was all that was needed in that particular model, my very first
rabbit, a 79, was the same way. You are supposed to leave the seat
belt attached to the door so that you are automatically belted into
the car. There is a knee bar under the dash that prevents the driver
from sliding under. I suppose you might be able to swap in a 3 point
seat belt from a later Rabbit. Hayden
