  It usually takes 30sec to 1 minute of cranking time to prime them 
back up after being open a few days, IF all is clost to normal on 
the IP and lines.  If it's more prone to bleed down (not necessarily 
any real problems) then it can take 2 minutes or more.  
  I usually crank for about 20 seconds at a time.  If you have power 
to the fuel solenoid then grab a wire, when it's off, touch it off and 
on a few times to it and the battery pos. terminal.  If you hear 
clicking then it's likely just fine and you're just not primed yet.  As 
you said, it ran before. 
  The only other common things would be you timed it with the pump 
180 out but you said you did it with the little notch on the pump's gear 
lined up with the groove in the top of the pump mount so you're good 
there.  If you timed it with the cold start knob OUT instead of IN then 
it'll be hard to start too.
