[Vwdiesel] front grille

Owned both a '91 A2 TD and now a '97 A3 TDI.  Replaced the original A2 grill 
with a GTI knockoff (7" H4 hi/lo, 5" H3 or H1 driving lights).   Big 
differences in both grills, I don't see how you could do a retrofit.  Metal 
on the A2 (with sheet metal screws to anchor onto rad support brackets), 
plastic on the A3 with clipin connectors that break the first time you look 
at them.

IMHO, I prefer the handling and especially the styling of the A2.  I would 
give my left arm (and corresponding $$$) to find a pristine later A2 with 
electronic TDI engine...

Has anyone ever tried fitting a front grille from a jetta 93 - 97 onto a 91 
and older to make it look a bit mode modern ?
I'm sure there would be some modifying, cutting, and possibly flexing 
involved.
