I find it interesting what the "experts" do to diesel pickups when they
engineer them. I have a brother-in-law with a half or 3/4 ton pickup,
4x, no huge tires or anything and it has 4.11 gears! Makes bad mileage.
The new Fords and Duramax make closer to 15mpg than 20mpg it
seems. A friend has the new Ford with huge tires and such, makes
11mpg iirc.
Seems the newer, better and greener they get the worse mileage
they get. More hp and bigger engines shouldn't necessarily cause
this since they ARE diesels afterall. Even the TDI's are geared a bit
low if you get out on a highway doing more than 60mph to 65mph.
The '37 will be slightly low geared with the 4.10 rear end but the
3.73(?) would be slightly too high except on the highway and not
like the truck will be used for trips vs putzing around. With the
~30" tires and the .69 OD it should be just a bit over 2200rpm
at 60mph. Should be about right for a 2.8 Nissan diesel. :-)
