Sodium filled valves are used on hot running engines that need
to dissipate heat rapidly from the exhaust valve to the head.
Since diesels run roughly half as hot as a gasser under similar
conditions, it's unlikely you'll find any/many diesels that have
soduim filled valves. The sodium is only in the stem, not the head/
face.
I know there are others out there but the only engine I know
difinitively has sodium filled valves is the Porsche 914. Not all
the engines had them. I do know the 1.7 does though. I wouldn't
be surprised if my 911 does but I'd have to read up on it again.
It's easy to tell because the stems are about 1.5x or slightly more,
as big as a comparable exhaust stem or the same car's intake valve
stem.
