[Vwdiesel] Letting go

I'm ready to let go of my toys. I'll be 80 years old on my next birthday,
and I have too many toys that deserve more care and attention than I can
provide. So, I'm asking if anyone is interested.

They both run, and need attention, but I no longer drive them or am
comfortable working on them. My eyesight is failing, my back hurts after I
spend time bending over the engine bay or under the car, and I just want to
do some other things this summer.

Rather than taking them to my mechanic and having them put in top shape
before selling, I'm offering to sell them to the diesel enthusiasts on the
list. Maybe someone would like these fairly rare vehicles, for their own
reasons. I searched for the 85 Jetta 2 whole years before I found it, back
in the 80's. And there aren't any on Ebay today.

Issues:
84 Rabbit needs an alternator belt and a longer alternator pulley....about
3/4 inches longer than the one on the car. And the power assist for the
brakes isn't doing the job for some reason. And the paint is pretty dull.
One rear brake drum tends to hang up and has to be banged with a hammer to
get it turning again after the car sits for a few months....corrosion at
one small spot. The car needs to be driven regularly.

85 Jetta needs shocks, and it overheats some times. I had the head gasket
replaced recently, and the cooling fan circuits/relays all gone over, but
for some reason it still shows signs of overheating. Don't know if it is
associated with a water pump impeller problem, a radiator circulation
problem, a thermostat problem, or something else. And the wipers the wiper
shafts need lubrication again....and the fan that circulates cabin air
probably has some leaves in it or something. And the door handles/locks
need to be lubricated again. And the front fenders under the trim are
seriously rusted. And I wouldn't want to slam on the emergency brake
because it might not release.

I just want to drive my Benz, and get it serviced every 10,000 miles, and
not worry about all the stuff I used to enjoy fixing.

The cars are located in Ohio, along the shores of lake Erie, near Sandusky.
If you are interested in either of these vehicles, I'd respond to a
personal email, and can provide details, pictures, whatever.
