[Vwdiesel] Diesel rabbit sitting a while

I have an 81 Diesel Rabbit that I have had sitting since Christmas of 07 started it every month or so up till about 6-7 months ago.. Its had Diesel addative/storage addative in the tank about 3/4 full problem is .. Tried to start it the other day and it wont start.. it will turn over fine.. but just would not hit.. sprayed a rag with a lil starting fluid and it wanted to start ..but just not quite over that hump? any ideas? do I need to reprime the injector pump maybe ? if so .. how do I tell? just pull the lines off and turn it over to see if its pumping? if not how do I prime.. Glow plugs are heating up.. checked that.. they were put in just before i put it up..but i did recheck them.. what should I do .. Diesels are not my forte..
