Hi,
Thanks for your help on my clutch question. I replaced the clutch cable and also I found that the clutch lever had play in it. The rod that the clutch pedal and the brake pedal rotated on hand nothing holding the rod from sliding out. I placed an E clip in the slot of the end of the rod and with the new clutch cable it seems better.
Now for my next problem. I tried to start the engine. I took off the bolt on top of the fuel pump which has the fuel return line attached to it and filled the pump with diesel fuel additive, someone at work said that would be the best thing since the pump and the injectors haven't been run in so long, maybe this is what caused my problem. Anyway after filling up the pump I filled the fuel filter as well. I took off the 4 fuel lines to the injectors and turned the engine over until all 4 lines had fuel coming out as the engine/fuel pump turned over. I have to admit it wasn't great flow, but it was coming out. I put the lines back on the injectors and attempted to start the car. It fired and started to start a lot, but the car just wouldn't totally start. Then nothing. No firing nothing. I took off the fuel lines to the injectors and checked for fuel coming out while turning over the engine and now nothing. No flow nothing coming out of the lines. I
opened the pump again and made sure it was filled by adding diesel fuel and still I am getting no pumping. I checked, the solinoid valve on the pump is getting power. I tried replacing the solinoid valve with one off of another pump I have lying around and still no fuel pumping out of the lines. I have to admit I didn't know how the solinoid valve was put together and when I went to replace it the plunger or little tip sort of thing fell out. I put it back in and it looked okay. Any ideas beyond just replace the fuel pump.
Thanks
Dave
