Just to add to that, there's something about the Cummins 24v motors that I
found out recently. Buddy with the Bosch shop bought a dozen 6.9's from
salvage, figuring he was going to make some cash peeling off the injection
parts for himself, and selling the block and head to the rebuilders. After
teardown, all but 2 had screwed heads on #5 hole, which they traced back to
either tuningbox or other chiptuning. Apparently, overeager chiptuning
kills #5 cylinder as the coolant flow is deficient in this area without
modifications. So much for making cash, at least he broke even on the
deal...
So, buying a used CTD 6.9 can be a bit dicey if it's spent much of it's life
tuned, and done some trailer work.
