Bill, I rarely replace those copper washers, just clean them good and it they look good, have not grooves in them, I use them over and over. I have not been following to much. How sure are you that the used injection pump was running before you got it?
Hang in there, you will get this Q runnning.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] More Quantum Questions
Reply to Mark Shepherd. Thanks for the reply. Was rainy today, so paid bills & didn't get out to the garage. The Quantum is beginning to feel like a money pit but feel the only un necessary money I spent was $150 for another used IP as I could have had the existing pump re sealed or rebuilt instead, which I do plan to have rebuilt for use on one of my other VWs.
I hope to get out tomorrow & work on the Quantum, & follow up on Mark's suggestions. I probably should replace the fuel filter but I wouldn't think it is blocked if I can suck fuel out the outlet side of the IP with my hand vacuum pump.
Oh, one other question I forgot to ask. Is it really necessary to replace the special washers under the injectors, per the Bentley recommendation? Mine looked OK, so I just cleaned them & re used them
