[Vwdiesel] 98 TDI Jetta no-start

Hey guys,

Remember a few months back I was looking at a Jetta that smoked white and wouldn't start? A whole lot of things were wrong; coolant temp sensor, stuck check valves, duct-taped wiring, bad timing... Anyways, I finally got it running. No enthusiasm there because, it ran great, but randomly would go down on power - just like it lost boost. Also, Vag-Com wouldn't graph timing - no matter where I set it (where it still ran) it would say 'timing was too advanced to plot'. Bad Vag-Com.

Then, after driving the car this way for a week, one day it wouldn't start. Checking... bubbles in fuel line, cam smack-on with flywheel, tow-start gives nothing, not even smoke?! Hmm, pump pin won't go in.

You guys ready? Crank pulley falls right-off. Woohoo!! I don't even care if the valves are bent. At least I'm not mental!!

The end of the crankshaft has a flat ground into it and the crankshaft 'cog' fits snugly over it. There is no keyway. The cog was worn round on the inside.
