[Vwdiesel] Value of 1.6 TD engine: sourcing question

I was talking on line to a guy about some of his sale diesel parts. He is trying to sell

a rebuilt 1.6 (Not sure of extent) td for 2250.00.

 

I hesitate to ask what he wants for the parts to convert my NA to turbo.
 

which brings my question: I am making a round trip from chicago to denver via travel van

and plan to explore some salvage yards along the way. are there any decent yards near 

I 80 or I 40   that some of you have had success with.
