[Vwdiesel] '02 Golf starts/dies

  Well, I checked for stuff.  The flapper stays open the whole time 
it starts and dies and no "key" light in the dash either.  
  Dad said even though he'd unplugged the charger, when he 
disconnected the first clamp, there was a fairly large spark from 
the + terminal to the charger.  Really odd.  I reconnected it to 
see if the diodes were shot or something and nothing, no spark 
in the least.
  I can hopefully borrow a VAG com but have VERY little time on 
browsing through one let along adjusting anything with one.
