[Vwdiesel] Crank Bolt Reusable?

The twelve-point bolt is the torque-to-yield bolt that supersedes the
earlier standard hex bolts. You /can/ reuse the earlier bolts, but
personally I just replace them with a TTY bolt, they're quite cheap and
it's not worth the worry over whether a 30+ year old bolt has fatigued
enough to fail.
