FIRST, a tip for buying used VW manuals at low cost, if you can't find what you want on eBay. Amazon has some kind of deal with various used book stores nationwide where they can sell used books thru Amazon. I think I bought my Quantum Bentley thru Amazon for around $23.00. I have a Dasher manual too, but don't recall where I bought it but you might check Amazon as well as eBay in looking for a manual.
Since I have installed a new battery, I can now get my Quantum started but only after excessive cranking. Once it starts, it starts right off with no missing or stumbling. I also see air bubbles in the return line. I have also put see thru plastic return lines from each injector. Makes no difference whether I run the inline electric fuel pump or disconnect it which is inline between the fuel filter & the IP. It acts the same whether the engine is cold & I cycle the glow plugs a few times or if the engine is hot. I suspect a leak in the IP, but where? No air bubbles on line from fuel filter to IP inlet.
