[Vwdiesel] 04 Jetta "Brake" light

Anyone know off-hand what this is?
About two miles from home I pulled onto the highway and at about 35 mph the
red 'BRAKE" light along with a  BEEEEP-<pause>- BEEEEP , stayed on for about
20 seconds then when out.
On the way home tonight nearly the same scenario (accelerating and at about
35 mph) the same thing.

I'm going to check the manual but though someone may have already seen this.
