  A couple guys here have vw diesel powered, statioinary, generators.  
I'm not sure you could cram enough generator under the hood to 
accomplish much.  If you could, you'd probably end up spending more 
than you would for a comperable or larger generator, unless you DIY 
and find the generator cheap.  Still, not much room when you try and 
do it in the car.
  You'd probably get further filling it with batteries and using an 
inverter.
