I have used Amsoil Universal automatic transmission in all my cars when the power steering fluid needed topping off. I also used it in my older "D" series Citroens for the hydraulic systems which included power steering & brakes when they first came out with their green mineral oil in the USA in mid 1969. I have yet to notice any bad results. My Quantum is my only VW that has power steering & I don't think I have added any power steering to it. My 1972 Citroen DJX-21 wagon came with green fluid & in 30,000 miles, the power steering went out as did some of the suspension spheres with the rubber in them turned to mush. I replaced the Citroen green fluid with Amsoil A/T fluid & at 200,000 were still OK. The same for my 1970 ID-19 & has been in it for about 20 years. I have kept the Citroen green fluid in my 1979 CX diesel, since I have not had any problems with it in the 24 years I have owned it.
What adverse effect would result from putting Amsoil A/T fluid in my Quantum's power steering?
