Not quite right, since with those numbers you're forgetting taxes and
such. Saving money is worth considerably more than earning an equal
amount. It's the equivalent of one and a half to two times as much,
depending on tax circumstances. (I don't know exact numbers, but
that's what I always tell myself when I'm sinking money and lots of
time into fixing something rather than buying new.)

So you're even better off fixing it! :)
