This is very much like the attitudes that many VW shops had in the '60s and even into the '70s, when customer services was not only a cutlurally expected thing, it was how many VW dealers earned their keep. I can remember as a mechanic taking the odd bus customer home when the number of engine failures on our doorstep exceeded our summer stock level of exchange 1600 single port long blocks with a long weekend only hours away.
That kind of attitude can still be found (more often in small town aircraft repair facilities), but it is now quite rare.
