[Vwdiesel] Decoking pistons

Thanks for the replies chaps. I've taken photos but, here's a little update, 
as I'm too tired to upload them tonight!

Upon taking the pistons out, all shell bearings and wrist pins no wear.
All 4 middle compression rings stuck in.
2 top rings stuck in, one completely and one halfway round.
One oil ring stuck.
Valves seem to have survived.
Tomorrow along with some photos, I'll  show just how big a top ring gap can 
get and still [a week ago] have a starting engine.
Any guesses? :o)

No carbon on piston crowns, other than some wipe clean stuff. Some skirt 
skuffing on one piston only...

Oven cleaner seems to soften most carbon.
