[Vwdiesel] alternator wire up

I purchased a used na 1.6 which came with an alt. the alt is a 65 amp. and uses spade connectors.
 
the terminals are stamped: b+ for battery, d+ exciter i presume and w for tach. is this correct?
 
I will have to change the wire ends, either way it goes, i just don't want to ruin the alt. 
 
this is a cabrio diesel conversion which has gone mostly well with all factory parts.
it was an automatic and so i had to change out the steering rack in order to mount the shift linkage
brackets.
the motor starts and runs well and the car drives well though i am still working through a mountain of
electrical bugs, lights, fuel pump circut, horn.  I added a manual glow switch and powered the fuel soleniod while direct wiring the coolant/fan sensor. the po gave up on the car because of the electrical woes. sitting for some time has stiffened
up the calipers though test drives are beginning to loosen them up though one has a broken off bleeder screw and so i will likely need
replace it.
 
I have been busy with house, family and work so it has taken longer to finish though hopefully it will be on the road
daily before summer leaves chicago.
