And don't forget, the Glow Plugs energize when the Engine is cold and not
when it's hot!  That's what I've found most of the time when that happens to
me.

If the timing is good enough to start cold, it should be plenty to start
warm.

This is an issue particular to TDIs so I'm not sure if it applies in your
case, but if a car will start cold but not hot, it is often due to an issue
with the starter/battery/etc - for whatever reason (usually blamed on the
computer, which is why I don't know if it applies here) the car requires
more cranking RPMs to start warm vs. cold.

Have you tried swapping batteries or hooking up a booster?
