as i crawl, time wise, through the diesel swap into an 86 cabrio i am now confronted with the need for a quiet muffler.
these motors are noisy. the spot i want to locate the muffler is in the heat shielded area behind the shifter
under boot.
I want it there so it can exit the pass side in front of the rear wheel. why? as this is an on going driving experiment
my thoughts are to explore using the location of the rear axle area to place an electric motor and transaxle.

stop laughing for a moment and think of a small tubular muffler that is quiet. there is room (with indent) in front of
the fuel tank and i thought i could clamp ( to reshape) the exhaust pipe into a slightly oblong shape as it passes past the under body
weld seam, for ground clearance.

the car runs well considering it has sat for over 12 years outside during chicago winters. some of the issues are sticking calipers, some nasty electric dysfunctions involving most of the lighting and windshield wipers.

thanks, ray
