I don't think you really have to worry about the exact resistance if you are worried about the plugs working or not. Just for the code clearing possibly. I have a reader that checks for a circuit completion. You put one probe where the harness hooks on and then the other to ground. If it makes a sound the plugs is good. If not it is bad. I would be careful of hooking a 12 v battery up to the newer glow plugs as plugs are anywhere from 5-11 volts so you could run a chance of burning it up fast if you aren't careful. I think the pre 04's were 11 volt. The the PDs were I think 7 volt ceramics and then they went down to a 5 if I remember. But I may be wrong. I know you couldn't put the steel ones in the ceramic system with out a re-flash (or recall) or you would burn the steel plug out because it was a lower voltage.
