T&L: did he say it was an N/A Quantum? with those injectors, i assume it's a
TD...
William: the injectors should be rebuilt as a set, with new nozzles. i would
use the ones that were already in the engine but it doesn't really matter,
the only difference between the two types are the numbers stamped on them
and the nozzle.(make sure you get the right nozzles!)I have 3 TD and 1 NA
inj. body in my quantum motor. Also, if you have a good assortment of shims
and like a project, i see no reason why you shouldnt do it yourself. there's
a good how-to HERE<http://vincewaldon.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=28>.
the best reason to pay a shop to do it is the cost of shims as you will need
to try several sizes before you get the pressure right. on the other hand, i
just had a local Bosch certified shop do mine and they only charged $35
each, with nozzles (the bit about the two types being interchangeable came
straight from them).
have fun! and thanks for using the list, community works!
