[Vwdiesel] 2 cautionary tales

Driving around recently has given me two lessons:

I may be carrying around too many tools. Bad things happen to me on the
road so I carry all three socket sets (1/4, 3/8, & 1/2"), a full set of
metric wrenches, and various other pliers, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.
in a good-sized steel toolbox. Not good, however, when that tool box
falls over onto a gallon jug of oil in your trunk. Then, when a car
recently blew across my lane only to stop to make a left turn, my
toolbox joined me in the cab of the car (I have the back seat out for
more storage). Fortunately, the front passenger seat stopped it,
but...yeah..... I also found out that you can scream louder than your
horn. I did stop in time though a little part of me really wanted to
t-bone that car.

A couple weeks ago, I was riding my bike and saw a car sitting in the
street. It's not a good thing when your ball joint goes out
catastrophically. Something I realized I needed to check on when I got
back to the house.

Food for thought.
