[Vwdiesel] broke later style vacuum pump?

I'm not sure. I haven't run the engine without the top on the vac pump.
The one pump I had issues with, it didn't do much if you dumped oil down the
nipple. Couple that with the fact that it's a pressurized oil channel that
feeds the center of the vac pump I have always assumed that the flow of oil
to the vac pump would be significant and likely visible if the nipple was
removed.

The oil supply for the vac pump comes from the oil pump shaft bushing,
travels up a channel in the shaft of the oil pump into the interface with
the vac pump gear and then up the vac pump shaft to squirt out the center of
the vane carrier. The oil supply components that might cause an issue other
than general low oil pressure are the oil pump shaft bushing and the seal in
the bottom of the vac pump gear that seals to the oil pump shaft. Also,
there could be a blockage in the path, most notably in the small screen in
the center of the vac pump.
