I do that all the time, works Great, no issues on sucking seals inward or anything. You will have to crank for 20 seconds maybe 30
good luck on the rebuild

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Filling IP pump
I'm wrapping up my rebuild on a 1.6L NA IP pump. Has anyone tried to
fill the IP by using a vacuum pump (such as the Mityvac) on the out
banjo fitting (fuel return line) to fill the pump and injector lines.
Or is this a bad idea, as in I'll suck the seals inward on the pump?
Thanks,
Bud
