I agree, the air will bleed itself out. I do not crack my hard lines open to much anymore to let the fuel out into a rag.
From time to time you will get an injector "LOCK" that sounds like you have something REALLY bad going on this the engine you just got up and running. This is the air in the hard lines and it must lock the injector open or something. Shut down the motor and restart it. That seems to burp it out. If not, then open up the 17mm nut on top of the injector to let the air out, that will fix it.
It sounds realy ugly but it does not hurt anything for a minute or so of running like this.

No need. These things bleed out well and having those lines open,
to bleed, most likely still leaves air in the high points. Frankly it
just makes a mess and doesn't start with any real amount less of
cranking.
