Simply cutting the springs will increase their rate. You will need stiffer struts to go along with them, or you will have a "bouncy" ride, though at a high rate of oscilation. I wouldn't go too crazy on stiff on a cab, though. The body flexes more than a rabbit/jetta since there is no roof. Go with some good upper and lower strut bars as well. I like the triangulated ones for the bottom. Also, you might see if an upper is available for the rear.
