  The 1.6 Turbo likes a 2 1/2" exhaust.  I'd be inclined to go 3" on a 
1.9L.  The stock, cast downpipe has quite a bit of restriction in the 
middle of it which REALLY made me want to replace it right away.  
You're better off building/having built a larger downpipe than to 
adapt that one to the turbo.  A good exhaust shop should be able 
to do that or just go 3" all the way.  You'll be glad you did plus your 
EGT should drop about 300F or more by doing so.
