[Vwdiesel] Fuel pump sprocket removal

I'm trying to pull the fuel pump out so I can reseal it.  Got everything 
loose except the pump sprocket.  I have the center nut loose and some 
gap.  The Bentley says to tap the gear puller bolt with a hammer and it 
should pop off the tapered shaft.

Problem is, I've done several love taps and I'm one of those guys that 
don't know my own strength.  Thank goodness for torque wrenches.

Should I keep tapping it with the hammer?
