Good thought.  Haven't pressure checked the cap, but did swap in a new one, as well as one from the wrecked Passat that didn't have problems before the crash.  No change in coolant loss observed.  

Plus the bubbles indicate something is getting in there.  I just need to figure out where they are coming from!
