Drove it to work today, runs well.

Swapped heads, cleaned and re-installed motor, finally, just needed to be at the
right angle, putting the car back down on the wheel and lifting motor.
Initial start, No Start still after all this.
Determined, I finally took the time to check for spark, something I should have
tried to do 4 years ago.
No Spark
I had re-gapped the points, the condenser looked new, so had to be the coil,
swapped that.
no spark
I forget what the coil does after all the diesel stuff.
my VW buddy Jeff says coil has nothting to do with spark, it must be points,
good looking or not.
I have electronic points from 10 years ago, now, I put them in.
Spark and she starts up ok.
I painted an old muffler with oil based silver rustolium, I don't need high heat
paint, lets see what happens.
In 45 - 60 seconds it starts burning off and filled the garage with smoke.
Daa
I have another german muffler that has some oil in it, but in great shape, no
paint on it, I put this on.
This one smokes as well but just burning off the oil from when it last ran in
some other motor with big issues, but it burns off finally.
Still not running well, carb is next.
A different VW friend comes over and takes a listen, carb for sure.
we take it off, take all jets out and soak in Lacquor Thinner and then clean
with carb cleaner, re-install.

All is Perfect now

A few more odds and ends that need fixed and I am going to sell her to a man in
his 70's that I have know for years who lives a few streets away.  He has been
looking for a new bug to replace his 69 rust bucket, so it is a good match and I
can work on it for him and drive if I wish any time.  He lives in NY City and
still runs a AD agency in the city and comes down to the shore on the weekends
and wants the car to run around in only.

I will finish the resto of the other 70 bug I have in the works and keep that
one.

thanks all.
I still do not like gas engines any better.
