Funny this comes up on the diesel list, but I also love, and in fact, daily
drive a 4000Q. I also have one for a track car, and five or six parts cars
(I own 5 wooded acres in Oklahoma).

I've been using a 4000Q asa a daily driver for more than half of my (now 20)
driving years. I absolutely love everything about them, even the milage.
Although, compared to the 48 average of my 82 Jetta, they pale in
comparison. But, they are comfy, go anywhere, and are a ton of fun to drive.

I also have a super clean red '84 right now that I'm doing a few minor
things to get it up to 100%. It belongs to a friend in the Air Force who is
stationed in Germany. BTW, mine are all 85-87's. I like the utility of the
lower liftover trunk, and the power rear windows.

I have also done a lot of modifications to the Jetta that have make it a fun
car to drive, but it's still not as fun overall as the 4000's.

The thing about the diesel, however, combined with a "winter car", is that
it gels at a lot of the lower temps I've seen in teh winter. Anti gel helps,
but aside from some sort of heating or re-routing of the fuel lines, there
isn't much you can do to keep the fuel from gelling at -20F and below.

Tony
