The odometer is most likely a broken plastic gear. They can be fixed with super glue but not always. I had a mechanic explain why so many odometers in Rabbits/Golfs/Jettas were broken: People pushing the reset button WHILE the car is moving. So design problem would cause the gear to stick and then split. As for the Tach, it is controlled from the W terminal on the alternator. Either the wire is disconnected or broken. It is generally not the tach itself although rarely there is a problem on the circuit "board" (actually the thin plastic sheet on the back of the cluster. BTW, I have a number of diesel clusters, many of which have working odometers. Let me know if you need one. Hayden

Now I need torepair the instrument cluster, as odometer and rev doesnt work.
Any ideas?, its a 94 Golf (Jetta) mexican made.
