That was never offered to me, now I'm annoyed.
Dialing the phone to vw as I type.
Was offered a gas rental from Enterprise last year in fall.
Started like a pos all winter, but wasn't willing to have the wife drive a
neon in winter with poor tires.
I was told there was a new flash released on Wednesday to fix this, and had
an appointment to have this done today, but the car can't get off the farm
since the blizzard.

The original recall was over a year ago. Due to ceramic glow plugs that
would break and fall into the engine, VW issued a recall for all 2004 and
some 2005-6 models with the BEW and BRM PD engines. The original recall
replaced the ceramic glow plugs (which were 7 volt) with a steel 5 volt glow
plug and they reflashed the ECU to account for the glow plug change.
Unfortunately nearly everyone began having start up problems in cold
weather. There were stories of Canadian cars that spent the entire winter
sitting at dealerships while their owners were given gas cars to drive while
VW tried to figure out what the heck was going on. About mid summer,
dealers began quietly, if pushed by the owner, to "undo" the recall. They
installed steel sheathed 7 volt ceramic glow plugs, 4 Eurospec PD injectors
and reflashed the ECU again to take the glow plugs and the injector
characteristics into consideration. Ultilmately the word got around with PD
owners and more and more were demanding this

Does anyone have info on this recall? I was never informed about this one
or
the notice went out in the junk mail recycling.
