Nope, never had that. Could it be air bubbles in the PS rack or the system
someplace? I do not know of a way to bleed the PS system, it just has to do it
on it's own as far as I know.
Belt slipping?

Subject: [Vwdiesel] power Steering shudder
This is an '04 Jetta TDI .
I call it a shudder because I can't come up with a better label.
When the engine is about 1100-1400 rpm (just off idle) and the wheel is
turned bought 1/3 to 2/3 (around 1/2 way to lock from center) travel in
either direction I get a shudder in the power steering system, kind of
sounds like pump cavitation but the reservoir is at the proper level.
I replaced the pump, but it acts exactly the same.
I just wondered if others have had this happen and found a solution.
Thanks,
