[Vwdiesel] Clutch slipping?

Not necessarly. My clutch was slipping terribly, to the point that the car was barly driveable-hills were a major challenge. If cruise control kicked in at the wrong moment, the engine could rev up quickly without any increase in road speed. Slipping doesn't mean there is zero friction, just means there is not enough.
As bad as my clutch was, it would always kill the engine. I tried more than once, almost hoping that I could keep the engine running even with it in gear and clutch out.
Sounds to me his disc is about like mine was, nearly worn out. Mine was working its way into the rivits with very little friction material left.
