[Vwdiesel] Oil Leak

I had an oil leak coming from the front of my head in the 1.9na, no ARP studs,
just stock ones.
It was from the front cam seal and had started when I took the cam out to
replace a few lifters as I was hearing a good valve tap.
I did not replace the seal. That is about when it started to leak. Lesson
learned, for the $2 it costs for the new seal, ALWAYS replace it when doing
anything like this to save hours of non-productive time.
You are saying it is coming from between the head and the block.
I get a similar leak, but very minor, from my 1.6TD motor after rebuilding the
head. I could be a minor scratch in the head or block surface in my account.
Minor leak, not much dripping.
Sounds like this is a more major leak that you have with this customer car.

Subject: [Vwdiesel] Oil Leak
I'm working on a Customer Car that came in with an Oil leak in the front of
the Head. I had completely rebuilt the Engine, Head was machined flat as
well as the Block surface. I used ARP Head Studs and torqued them to OE
spec (65 ft. lbs.) I didn't re torque the Studs and there is 3000 miles
since the install.
Engine runs very well, no Oil in Water and doesn't appear to be any loss of
compression. I'm going to re torque the Studs and clean up the area and see
what happens. Anyone ever run across this?
Rudy
