[Vwdiesel] Clutch slipping?

Bud,

It sounds like you may be novice to this. I am not saying you shouldnt take
on the task, but consider how particular errors could cost you more in the
end.

There is no issue with regards to TDC for a clutch R&R. You will want to
make sure that the alignment dowels are properly aligned, but that is self
explanatory as you would have to be a real goon to bolt it down wrong
(although ive seen it done).

You may want to consider finding a local friendly tech to press the seals in
for you. You could take the trans and rear crank seal plate(it unbolts
through the oil pan and straight on) there and have someone familiar with
pressing seals do it.

The task is simple if youve done it before but ive seen too many good
intentioned DIY'ers burn themselves with this kind of thing.

On larger engines I will use a hoist from above, but for that engine, a
floor jack and 4x4 block under the edge of the pan nearest the trans will
allow you to move up&down for easy access and not hurt the pan.
