  I'll say I THINK mine was metal.  It did have a foam liner that was 
totally saturated 
with oil.  I took it off and let it set out a while to "weather off."  When 
I went to put 
it back on, I couldn't find it.  Dad'd moved it, leaves burried it, 
something.  Came 
across it a couple years ago, still don't remember where it went!
