[Vwdiesel] Headlight switch pull knob

OK, I'm trying to get my dash open to get to my headlight switch which has
become loose and needs to be tightened.  It's the pull type, 82 Rabbit n/a.
The knob has to come off so I can pull the black plastic surround.  I've
searched VWVortex and it says the knob is simply pull-off.  I don't believe
it.  How do I get this knob off?  I sure hope it hasn't been epoxied.
