Hmm, didn't even consider that they might not want to do it...
Since someone has again mentioned lapping valves, replacing valve seals, etc:
Here is a question to the group:
If it were your car and you were planning to keep it for a couple more years then upgrade to something a bit bigger, would you spend the extra time/money on worrying about the head if it looks ok visually and is flat when it is pulled?
Alternatively, does anyone know of a reputable rebuilder who does exchanges on the heads?

I don't know how specialized the machine work is, but I talked to a lot of shops here in Dallas before I found one willing to even look at an aluminum Diesel head. The same guy who's the only one in town willing to work on other, more exotic engines. I guess every other shop in town just builds 302's & 350's.
Mine was reasonably worn @ 155, 000, so it's worth checking into.
With some major head work (timing belt slipped) the whole exercise cost me right at a thousand.
