Yep, little steel spring (shaped like an R laying on its back) with a plastic button on 
the top.  It slides along a track and there are two bumps in that track at the ends that 
hold it fully closed or fully open.  Clip will pop out of the back of the ash tray pretty 
easy, no tools as I recall.
